Narodni Ikony on Glass – Iconography on Glass Workshop

We will explore Hutsul icons on glass. These folk icons are a wonderful example of primitive art from Western Ukraine. The images are vibrant and have an innocent beauty. Iryna will give a brief history and guide us through the process of painting our own icons. A perfect project for beginners. Supplies included. All Levels welcome.

Pysanka Writing 101

Create an original pysanka to take home for Easter follow¬ing step by step instructions. Information handouts will be provided. A $10 dinner (optional) will be provided by St. John's Institute from 5:00 – 6:30 for those wishing to add additional fun and flavour to the evening. Call ahead for dinner reservations at (780) 439-2320 by February 27th, 2011.
Supplies: Please bring 2 – 3 uncooked eggs, soaked in diluted vinegar (one part vinegar one part water) for 15 minutes. All other supplies included. All levels welcome.

Etched Pysanka – Etched Traditional Designs on Egg

Etching is a technique that removes a layer of shell to give the design a three dimensional effect. Using brown or dyed eggs, and a wax-resist technique, we will create unique pysanka designs. Participants may bring their own rotary tool if they have one. Supplies included. All levels welcome.

Colours of the Bukovynian Landscape – Watercolour Workshop

Hand Woven Greeting Card
